Will Elkridge Get A Sonic Burger Spot?

Has anyone heard about a Sonic opening at the site of a McDonalds that had a fire last December in Elkridge?  Vicki posted a comment saying that neighborhood rumor says Sonic might open at the Washington Boulevard site.  Heard anything?

(Update: Trevor-Peter writes below that a Sonic doesn't seem likely.  He says Courtney Watson posted a month ago that McDonald's says the store will continue to be a McDonald's.)

Although my wife would be camped out for the grand opening if that were the case (we live across the street, and she's dying for a Sonic to open anywhere in the area), it doesn't seem likely. HC Council Chair Courtney Watson posted on FB (almost exactly a month ago): "We had word today from McDonald's in Elkridge that interior demolition was about to begin and reconstruction would take about 60 days." Asked if it would stay a McD's, she responded, "McDonald's is telling us it will continue to be a McDonald's."

My mother went up to the new Sonic and spoke with the franchisees who indicated that, in fact, they are hoping to soon move in to Howard County (specifically the Elkridge area). The exact space was (as of a few weeks ago) to be determined.

I still have my fingers crossed for the corner of St Johns and Route 40, though I can't figure out how they would fit a Sonic there.

MaybeKathy, I've heard a rumor about a Sonic at the St Johns Ln location. Now who started it.?" :)

Reconstruction on the McDonalds is moving along fast, definitely does not look like a Sonic.
