Ann's House Of Nuts Moved To Columbia

Eric emailed me that Ann's House Of Nuts has moved to Columbia -- specifically to 9012 Berger Road.

Has anyone been? Eric says they moved around November 2, and Google Maps shows them at the same address. However, I have not had a chance to drive past. Google Maps puts that address on the part of Berger Road off Oakland Mills Road. This is south of Snowden River Parkway. (There is another, unconnected part of Berger Road that actually intersects Snowden.)

Ann's House of Nuts had been in Jessup. Over there, they had limited hours, so I had never stopped at the right time. Some people swear that it's a great place to buy nuts and dried fruit. Some people caution that the prices aren't always lower than retail. Any thoughts on Ann's -- especially as the Christmas baking seasons approaches?

(Update: See below for several comments about Ann's -- including what people think are a deal.)

I went to the new location yesterday, 11/11 and people have definitely found it. It's in a commercial complex right off Oakland Mills on Berger before it dead ends. It's quite visible. The hours are still the same work unfriendly hours with no weekend or evening hours. They even close early on Friday at 3.

The inventory includes all the regular Ann's nuts and fruits plus candy, spices, containers, baskets etc. The normal package items that you would find in the store are usually not a great deal but they don't have any "cherry sized produce for 1.99 each deals" either. However, the stuff in the bulk packages with yellow stickers can be at unbelievable low prices. Especially the ones that are marked 2 for 1. These deals are usually trail mixes or nuts. My best deal was two large packages of chili-lime pecans I got a month ago. The pecans were mostly unbroken and large. If I didn't want the seasoning I just washed it off. I've also gotten some neat containers at low prices. The selection changes all the time. Sometimes even in the same day. The really good deals get snapped up pretty quickly.

I go to Ann's for the complete variety of every nut and fruit in all sorts of forms & flavors and the unexpected great deals.

I was a frequent visitor to the Jessup/Laurel location-and it is a great variety of nuts, dried fruits, candies etc. Some of the real "bargain" items do seem a little stale, but they are $1-2 a bag, so maybe it isn't such a big deal..Definitely worth the visit for the variety...

Why is Berger Rd chopped up the way it is? There are clearly two distinct roads about a 1/4 mile apart on Snowden River Pkwy, but they are both called Berger Rd. I guess they used be connected? Confounding.

We picked up "vases" for our impending wedding at the Jessup location-- 8 gorgeous glass jars with no corks for $1. 16 vases for $2! That's even better than Goodwill.

I'd also echo what other folks say-- the yellow-tagged stuff is often a bargain, the "normal" package stuff isn't. Don't buy it if you're not going to eat it, then it's just a waste.

Also, melting chocolate and other candy-making supplies (sugar-free chocolate, too!) are wellpriced if you want to make home-made chocolate covered pretzels for holiday gifts...

I've also found sun-dried tomatoes (not in oil, but just dried) at a fantastic price.

I used to shop at the Jessup store and found the new one in Columbia today. I love the new store because it is so much larger than the old one. There is more room to move around and you are not bumping into people. I also go there when I want to find deals on nuts and things for baking. I disagree with the other posts, I think that the prices are better than regular retail in most cases. It is definately the best place and price to get spices. Spices like cinnamon, cloves, curry, cayenne pepper, dill, nutmeg can be found at .60-$2 for a whole container. That is certainly cheaper than any grocery store that I have been to. Check it out. It is worth it.

Great place. Love getting cheap nuts. Yeah address is 9012 Berger Rd Columbia MD. Off of Snowden River Pkwy head south on Oakland Mills Rd then take a left on Berger Rd. They sell some new stuff that I hadn't seen before like the dried fruits (cranberries, ginger, apple, kiwi). Was sad that they didn't have the $1 bag of peanuts last time I went.
