Why does the Starbucks cross the road? To get a drive-through, it seems.
The Dobbins Road Starbucks will move across to the Kmart shopping center, reports
Wordbones on Tales of Two Cities. No timing mentioned in his post.
Wordbones says the Starbucks
will may replace the Wendy's. I had been wondering if Starbucks would occupy the new building that will replace the current home of Mango Grove -- mostly because
that plan calls for a drive-through.

You really still think of it as the Kmart shopping center? There hasn't been a Kmart there for years. I'm excited about a Starbucks drive-thru, but that whole entrance getting to Wendy's, Chick-Fil-A, near Walmart, and the bank drive-thru is already a tangled traffic mess. :-(
HowChow,
I didn't actually say that they would take the Wendy's space, I said "may."
Truth be told when I first heard about this I was told that they were going to go where Mango Grove is. At that point I hadn't realized that the Mango Grove building was coming down and that a site plan with a drive-thru had already been approved. I missed that post of yours. (Note to self: check in with HowChow daily).
So...
It looks like it could in fact be the MG building. The only question is whether it can ready in time. I also heard that Starbucks would like to operational in their new digs by next April.

A local Starbucks drive thru has been one of my wildest dreams! Wherever it ends up going in I am THERE! However, I will be sad to see the Mango Grove close its doors.... unless it is going someplace else. I have always enjoyed eating there and at the Mirchi Wok across the foyer.
That would be a net loss. Can't stand Starbucks. Do enjoy Wendy's.
I love the idea of a drive-thru Starbucks but omigoodness . . . what we don't need is more cars turning into that shopping area. It's a holy mess already.
The construction crew has made quick work of demolishing the old mango grove to make room for the new Starbucks. The new building looks big enough to house a few other small businesses. With the increase in traffic to Dobbin Center, the developers really need to improve the side entrance that separates McDonald's and Wendy's.
I wonder what will take over the old location next to AT&T. Perhaps they'll just expand it. Wouldn't it be ironic if another coffee shop took it's place?
