Rodrigo Albarran of R&R Taqueria is getting called up to the big leagues -- becoming the executive chef at a new Mexican restaurant in Dupont Circle, reports the Washington City Paper.
Albarran will become the chef at a new place called Mission, reports Jessica Sidman. You know that I love Jessup, but a Dupont Circle restaurant is a chance to feed first dates where both people think they'll become senators (or own senators) later in their Washington careers.

Jessup to close or remain open? .. He's not always there .. Others cook too
Rodrigo already has a second place in Perry Hall (formerly in White Marsh Mall food court) so he has trained staff at both locations.
Looks like DC is in need of Rodrigo's talents. Hope it's a success for him.

I just spoke to Rodrigo. They're opening March 19th. He'll be floating all around, so expect to see him occasionally at any of the three locations.
I hate to say it but I no longer go to R & R. I always loved their enchiladas, however they seem to not be so good anymore. Not sure if it is cause of too much business or change of staff. Lately I find that Las Vegas(a tad south same side on rt 1) tends to have better food and even use an actual wood grill.
Mission in DC has opened.
