Link: Cha Ya Cafe On Cupcake RN

Katie at the Cupcake RN blog hit Columbia's dreaded Sunday night sushi blackout when both Sushi King and Sushi Sono are closed.

But nurses are resilient, so she took friends for a fish hit at Cha Ya Cafe instead.  She has posted photos and a short review.  And, most importantly, she has officially moved to Howard County so the local blogs increase again!

Cha Ya is hit or miss, in my experience. Sometimes the tom kha gai soup is really sweet when you order it hot. Maybe it depends on which day you go.

I agree, Jen - the sushi was nice, the service was great, but the tom kha gai - which my husband had raved about a few days earlier - was positively sugary! Other than that, I like Cha Ya very much.

my wife and I discovered Katana on a Sunday night when we needed a sushi fix and came across it on google - i highly recommend it to everyone, we haven't stopped going since for anytime we want sushi!

oops - the Katana in Clarksville, right near the 32/108 intersection

Anon- I was a bit turned off by the sushi at the Katana in Elkridge, but may consider giving it another try at the Clarksville location based on your comment.

Did y'all forget about Hanamura, across the street from Sushi King, or are you just not big fans of it? It's one of my favorite places, but restaurant preferences are all about the personal taste and subjectivity. :) For example, I ate at Cha Ya's previous incarnation (I can't remember the name) and was underwhelmed. They were trying to do too much by having a general Asian restaurant with a huge menu of Chinese/Japanese/Thai/etc. Now that they've narrowed things down, I'd say it's time for another try.

Nichi Bei Kai recently expanded their hours as well — although weekend evenings are still the best times to catch the sushi master (you'll be glad you did).
