Want To See Wegmans Columbia Site Plan?

Want to see the site plan for the Columbia Wegmans?  Wegnow left a comment on a prior post with a link to a Howard County planning board Web page that shows a map of the site:
Check out this on the HC planning board website: http://www.co.ho.md.us/DPZ/DPZDocs/SDP07131tsr.pdf It shows a picture of SR Pkwy with an image of the to be built Wegmans. Garage and clock tower are closest to SRP, store on the west end of the site. I think when this gets approved, permits are not too far behind.

Looking at the site plan gets me a little worried/annoyed.

It appears as if there is only going to be one entrance/exit - w/ possibly (and hopefully) a light going in at McGaw Rd. and Stanford Blvd.

Considering the sheer size of Wegmans, or what I've grown accustomed to from the Hunt Valley Wegmans, this is going to be a traffic disaster. All traffic must flow in and out of Wegmans at this one point...and in and out of a parking garage once on the property, nonetheless. Seems like a single point of failure to me.

And the plot of land doesn't seem all that big to me, so how can this really be the largest Wegmans on the east coast (a stat one of my friends threw out)? I wonder had they moved into the old Home Expo (new home to Babies R Us and REI) if that would have been better? At least there are 3 entrances/exits to that plot, including one at Snowden.

Anyone have any other details to make me feel less worried about the traffic situation this is going to cause on not only McGaw...but as I can imagine...Snowden.

Wino - There will be two entrance/exits. I knew I read something about it a while ago. By the way, the last I saw, it was scaled down to 130,000 sq ft, from the original 160,00 sq ft. So it may not be the biggest store they have, although it is still an impressive size. Here's the link: http://www.explorehoward.com/news/74694/wegmans-aims-2012-opening-howard-county/

A new road project and design is slated for Snowden River Parkway from Broken Land to near McGaw. So I am sure that the Wegmans will be taken into consideration. The only reason I know this because my company bid on the job and we did not get short listed for the contract. Even the best design will have faults with the sheer volume of people that will be patronizing the Wegmans on a daily basis.

Thought I posted this here a few days ago, but it didn't show up. There is plans for an entrance from Snowden River according to a Wegmans spokesperson in this article from last September.

I actually HOPE David's closes because of this. They have consistently been one of the worst "natural" stores in the area for years. Awful produce, herbs spoiling on the shelf, terrible selection, dirty interior, mean employees, and prices far higher than nearby competitors.

Wegman's is the best grocery store I have ever been to, and I've been to my fair share. They deserve every bit of business they'll take from David's, because unlike David's, who can't keep their shit together with one location, Wegman's actually wants to provide a good service for their customers.
