Bombay Peacock Grill Seems To Have Closed

The Bombay Peacock Grill appears to have closed.

The Columbia Indian restaurant was one of our early dates, but I have to admit that House of India and Mango Grove had pulled us away when we wanted that cuisine.  I got an anonymous comment two weeks ago, and I just forgot to follow up among my emails.

The restaurant's phone rings to an anonymous voice mail, and I see that the restaurant's Web site now offers catering.  It's always sad when people lose their business or their jobs, so I hope that there is some silver lining to the story.

Oh, that's too bad. Like you, I abandoned Bombay Peacock for House of India and Mango Grove which were more convenient and better quality.

I remember going there first around 1991, when Columbia had significantly fewer restaurants, and those were mainly pizza or fast food, Bombay Peacock was an adventurous change of pace since Indian restaurants were rare. Their lunch buffet was a good way to try new food and was quite tasty. It was a special outing for our group at the small company I used to work for back then.

I enjoyed the food there, but today there are so many very good Indian restaurants in Columbia that I can't honestly say they'll be missed.

With the economy picking up, I hope the people working there find employment with as little dislocation as possible.

China Chefs also closed recently. The head waiter is now working at Hunan Legend. Sad to see so many places close recently.

I hope Mango Grove stays open long enough for me to use my groupon...

Bummer. My husband and I used to eat there all the time when they had "kabob night" where they just kept bringing small plates of food, as much as you could eat. They stopped that a few years ago, and since then we noticed the quality of their food went downhill. I always held out hope that they'd bounce back.

Is China Chefs really closed? I get takeout from there all the time.
