What's The "Bean And Burgundy" Story

Bean & Burgundy Kitchen
Who knows the story behind "Bean & Burgundy" on Rte 40?

The "Bean & Burgundy Kitchen" sign near Arcadia Drive is larger than the signs for most operating restaurants.  It says "coming soon," but people want to know more.

Marie said the owner told them it would be Ethiopian.  The pictures in the window include coffee and wine, which make Anonymous' report of "coffee and wine bar" seem smart.  But I don't really know the plan.  What are they serving?  When?

I haven't even been 100% convinced it's a restaurant, so I'm glad to hear this much. Just seeing the signs driving by, it looks like it could be a restaurant, or possibly a kitchen remodeling company! (well, there are 2 other home-related businesses right next door; like businesses sometimes cluster together.) Ethiopian would be a nice change, but you're right; the pictures look more cafe/bistro-y.

LOL. Ellen -- You're absolutely right. It looks like a restaurant, but that may just be because I write about restaurants. You could start a kitchen remodeling company call have the same sign! That's hilarious. I once asked about a sign in downtown Ellicott City, and it turned out to be someone opening an antique store.

I'm dying to know too. I've been looking at the sign for a while because I go to the excellent pet shop in that same strip. If you haven't been to My Pet Store and More, check it out. The owner, Chris, is always there and is very friendly and knowledgeable. (pet food counts as "chow", right?)

Off topic--does anyone know if the pizza place at St Johns and Old Frederick road has finally opened?

It's an upscale coffee bar/wine bar. It's NOT an Ethiopian restaurant. Similar to 'la madeline' but more upscale. I know the owner personally and I heard it's opening around May-June. I think it's a perfect place for coffee bar, I always pass by this place in the morning. I can't wait for the opening!

Ethiopian restaurant is Tigi's Ethiopian Restaurant: Behind Dunkin' Donuts at Normandy - Route 40. Owner had told us that he would be opening an Ethiopian restaurant "by the Dunkin' Donuts on Rt. 40," but no one clarified at that time Which Dunkin' Donuts. We now know that it's not the old Blockbuster location: Tigi's is now open behind the Normandy Dunkin'.

I work at this establishment. We had our soft opening as a cafe and now are incorporating a full service restaurant aspect. We have a top quality chef and amazing coffee in a hip, friendly environment.
Definitely come check us out! The food is amazing.
Some of our best selling items are the fish tacos, shrimp tempura and the flat breads prepared in our brick oven!
