Green Valley Supermarket Opens In Elkridge; The Local Blog Scene Has The Opening Covered

The new Green Valley supermarket opened in Elkridge less than two hours ago, but the Swim Write Run blog has already posted a description and photos.  This market replaces the SuperFresh, and Mo has a quick price check and some musings on what people do with the giant scissors after the ribbon cutting.

Mo -- So sorry about the insomnia.

Haha, thanks! Nothing a little coffee can't fix today.

Checked it out a couple of days ago. Sorry, very unimpressed. Prices higher than they ought to be. Except no prices at all on all the organic fruit. Chintzy "give aways." Fish from lots of 3rd world countries (but at least so marked). And to top it off, the slowest, dumbest check-out gal I've ever encountered. I won't be back.

I checked it out yesterday, and I wasn't impressed, either. The prices are considerably higher than Giant and Safeway. The selection isn't ideal, and the bonuses like the bakery are really poorly stocked and unimpressive. This is essentially a cleaner version of the old Superfresh. I won't shop here unless everything nearby is closed.

I went there today and I am not impressed either. No bargains, one of the slowest deli counters ever and very similar to superfresh. Will only go back for an extreme sale.

I agree with most everything that's been posted already. One minus is that internet printed coupons are NOT accepted. I did notice that some prices are very good while other items are much more expensive than Giant & Safeway. I can't believe I am saying this, but I miss the Superfresh salad bar - the new one is very small and doesn't have a lot of items on it. The salad dressing was gross too.
