Looks like a new bakery on Rte 40 in Ellicott City -- or maybe one moving?
There are signs for Bon Appetit Cafe & Bakery on Rte 40 in the new plaza between the Arby's and Exxon, according to Adam from Grubgrade. I think he is talking about the area near Bethany Lane. He says there is a sign that says "coming soon," although nothing clear about when it would open.
(Update: Bon Appetit opened in November 2010.)
Anyone know more? The WPost has a listing for Bon Appetit at 10155 Baltimore Avenue. But nothing on Yelp as far as I can see. (Update: See the comments below for some additional information.)
I asked @ Howard Bank when the Bon Appetit Cafe & Bakery would be opening - they said that although all the equipment is in, they are finalizing all the details (permits, inspections, etc) and hope to open very soon.
ReplyDeleteI talked to one of the guys working on the place yesterday and he said they would open next month.
ReplyDeleteIt's now August 23, 2010 and not open yet. More stuff has been inside such as some equipment, but no signs of life yet.
ReplyDeleteIs there a website for this cafe? Or a number to call?
ReplyDeleteYea, I'd like to know too. It would be great to have a place nearby to grab a decent breakfast from.
ReplyDeleteI haven't found anything yet. I'm not even sure if it opened.
ReplyDeleteNope, hasn't opened. The "Coming Soon" sign has been facing Rt 40 for-ev-er. But it totally weirds me out that there are comments on here from today and yesterday even though the post is 6 months old - I was just coming on to ask if anyone had any updates about it!
ReplyDeleteI decided to randomly drop by it yesterday morning and looked in the window. Still hasn't opened yet, so I googled it and this post came up.
ReplyDeleteAs of today, Bon Appetite is now open...wonderful selection of baked goods. The employees were very nice and helpful.
ReplyDeleteThis place is amazing! (This is a different Jess than the previous commenter by the way.) I'm working on a post about it at:

We replaced our usual Christmas morning cinnamon bun tradition with an assortment from this bakery. Not sure why they don't advertise their real specialty: it is a Korean bakery. They have some French pastries but many unique Asian goods. Also good lattes and more traditional breakfast. Really worth checking out!
Tried the red bean rice donut, the white bean donut (ok, half...), and the sausage pizza bread thing (which was weird. But good).
ReplyDeleteOh my god. So good.
I asked the cashier, she said everything's made on site. And considering how rich each item was, for me, that was almost two meals for all of... six dollars? less? Awesome.
