The people at the Honey Pig Gooldaegee Korean BBQ in Annandale say that the new Ellicott City location will open on March 19, according to a comment by Mr. Dai who says that he called them.
I don't know why I'm so excited for this restaurant opening when there are already great Korean restaurants in the area, and yet I am.
For what it's worth, they posted March 19th on their Yelp page (for the Annandale location, http://www.yelp.com/biz/honey-pig-gooldaegee-korean-grill-annandale) three days ago, so it sounds like it's slipped even from then, never a good sign that construction is going well.
I can't read Korean, but it looks like that March 19 date was also listed in the ad I linked above. I hope they make the new April 1st date. In any case, now that we have the EC location's phone number, at least we can call them directly on April 1st to verify. Hmmm, so far, I've tried that number twice today, but it just rings and rings... :-(
Opening day today. Was worth the wait. Kimchi was a little light but the spicy pork belly, bulgogi and la galbi were good. Go in a group and do it family style.

Went with a group of friends to the opening night. Wait wasn't too bad (45mins) and once seated the service team kicked into high gear. Within a few minutes of settling in with our menus, we were surrounded by small dishes containing condiments, kimchi, chillis and dressings.
A quick look at the simply-laid out menu confirmed we would be in for a treat: lots of pork, beef, octopus, and a vast array of soups and noodles.
We ordered the Galbi steak, beef brisket, and pork bellies. All arrived in short order and were expertly prepared by our server on the cast iron platten at the centre of the table.
Bowls of steamed rice, fresh lettuce leaves, alcohol beverages, and another round of condiments completed the spread.
Two of our party shared their (delicious) hot and sour soup with the rest of the party while the rest of us dug into the feast in front of us.
An hour or so later, and after much laughter and with full stomachs, we bad "Miss Honey 2" farewell and made our way home.
We all agreed that Honey Pig 2 would be on our list of oft-visited eateries in the future.

ReplyDeleteThat Korean sign just says what the English below says. A literal translation is "Ellicott City 4th Month, 1st Day (i.e April 1st)"
