The Examiner Loves Victoria Gastropub, Moves It Outside A Mall

The Baltimore Examiner Web site really liked Victoria Gastropub, but I'm not 100% percent sure that they actually ate there.

The food sounds right -- beer, pouline, lobster grilled cheese.  But the Examiner tops off the classic city restaurant review opener ("It's right off the highway") by also noting that Victoria is "conveniently on the edge of a mall."  A mall?  It's next to a hotel, a McDonalds, a tiny strip with a Dunkin Donuts.

The Examiner noted that the decor "reminds one a Medieval castle."  Any chance that they actually went to Medieval Times at the Arundel Mills Mall?  Click here to be the judge.  (Update: You can't be the judge anymore because the Examiner revised the post to remove the line about a mall.)

  1. I think they got the location wrong, but the review is spot on. I used to work at Victoria's and I've tried just about everything on the menu. I havn't been there in a few months, but I can't wait to go back for brunch. Those bisquits are awesome!

  2. I’m still confused she could have been anywhere...but the article made no reference to having utensils to eat with and the 'Happening bar' is usually like a medieval battle (i.e. Sword Fight).
The food matches. That was the horseradish sea bass my wife just had this past Friday Night for her Birthday. (We were also given a $10 dollar Gift Card to use next trip for celebrating her Birthday dinner there. Sure beats the staff singing and a Sombrero.)

  3. Mall meaning strip mall, maybe?

    Who knows.

  4. Perhaps they mixed up Victoria's with HoCo's other UK-themed restaurant, Union Jack's, which IS on the edge of a mall, of course.

  5. It is their american craft beer week this week. Each day is a different region of the US.

  6. Medieval Castle?? Victoria Gastropub doesn't look like a Medieval Castle. weird, kind of generic review. But quite amusing :)

  7. Did you see that they updated the wording in the article? But now readers think that the original comments are incorrect.

  8. That is hysterical! I don't like Gastro Pub....tables too close, no salt or pepper on the table and way too expensive for what you get.
