Five Guys Coming To Columbia

Five Guys is coming to the Columbia Mall, according to a comment from the beautifully named nuttyturnip.

This will be the first Five Guys hamburger and fries joint in Howard County.  The local chain has spots in Laurel, Hanover and Security Square.  But this would be one of the best burgers in Howard County once it opens.

Nuttyturnip says there is a "coming soon" sign at the old Haagen-Daz location in the mall food court.  My brother-in-law will be crushed because he loved that ice cream.  But the burgers are better.

  1. Now if only the mall had better parking near the theatre area. Thats always such a mess.

  2. Yeah, it's like everyone in Howard County comes to that mall on a night/weekend. I'm sorry to notice that Mamma Ilardo's was replaced by a Sbarro, and Popeyes also closed (no sign as to what's going in that spot).

  3. I worked in the mall from 2002 to 2008 and the amount of turnover of stores in the last year has been so depressing! I'm sad to hear about the Hagen Daaz and Mamma Ilardo's b/c I know they were privately owned and am sure they are out due to finances. The saddest closure for me was the mexican place that Taco Bell replaced (I know, how ironic) b/c the owner had been in the mall for at least 20 years. Anyone remember the old greek place that was in the *other* food court? He owned that place and switched to mexican when they mall renovated and got rid of the second food court.

  4. It now says Chipotle is going to replace Popeye's.

  5. The Columbia Mall's biggest food loss was when "Between the Bread" closed. Their "Columbia House Special" was one of the best sandwiches ever.
