Last week, Annie gave an update on how she is using Friends and Farms, farmers markets and other sources to push for good-tasting, often-local food. Beyond Annie, there are a bunch of people writing about local food. Links feel more important as I have less time to write and as all the newspapers and magazines seem to shrink their local coverage:
- Ol' Ironstomach wrote up Tigi's Ethiopian on Don Rockwell. Tigi's Ethiopian is my favorite -- and as far as I know the only -- Ethiopian restaurant in Howard County.
- The Unmanly Chef wrote up the Big Belly Deli in Sykesville. He hypes the turkey club and the onion rings. That's a good-looking sandwich, and I have already announced plans to annex Sykesville to get Salazon and the French Twist Cafe.
- Duane counted cars at the drive-in Starbucks in Columbia on HoCo Connect.

I think you meant Friends and Farms. Food and Friends is a great nonprofit in DC, but not a supplier of farm-fresh food.

ReplyDeleteYes, it is Friends and Farms, which is a Columbia based regional food supplier to individuals in the area.
My CSA is Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative, a coop of 100+ farmers in PA.
I use the two instead of grocery stores for most of my food.

ReplyDeleteThe CSA landscape has definitely exploded over the past few years, and the farmer's markets are very approachable and convenient. I love that they're held on weekday afternoons.
