My obsession Nando's Peri-Peri is opening another branch in the Arundel Mill mall on Wednesday.
I wrote up Nando's when they opened a location in Gambrills. Arundel Mill is closer, and I teased their PR folks about when they'll open in Howard County. Keep hope alive. The chain is clearly trying to expand, and Kira emailed me that there is a "chance" for us to get one in the next year.
Let me know what you think about Nando's. They do great chicken from wings up to half chickens -- terrific flavor in birds that are grilled and pretty healthy. I have been obsessed with the wings at the first DC location in Gallery Place. I eat way too many, dipping them in Nando's sauces.
I have to admit that the product changed on my last visit. The wings were much smaller -- and the price had actually gone up. I'm hoping it was a short-time change because they're a terrific splurge.
It seems to have gotten more expensive in the past few years, but I like it for a couple reasons, mainly the kids menu is great - nothing fried (why is that so hard to do for other places??) they really seem like smaller adult meals.
ReplyDeleteAs for the amount, I thought it was fine for me and for my kids, but my husband didn't think it was enough for him, so I guess I could see that. It is one place we have no leftovers, and probably have ordered more after we were done eating, but it's a great simple meal if you are out.
According to their website, they will be open for most of their hours on Monday, with Wednesday being the first full day. Here are the hours:

I can't eat Nando's after eating nothing but peri-peri chicken on a trip to Africa last year and then getting food poisoning. The taste is so distinctive, and I was so sick, that I just can't tolerate it anymore. But my understanding from coworkers is that the meals are a good size and price for lunch- it's down the street from our Bethesda office.
ReplyDeleteIt's open today and it was free at lunchtime! :)
ReplyDeleteHere are my fist impressions:
It's located in the Food Court across the aisle from Chilli's Too and next to the walkway to Maryland Live. (If you haven't tried Bobby's Burger Palace at the entrance to the casino, what are you waiting for. :) It's a full-service restaurant with space for 20-50(?) folks with modern architecture and music playing. I tried the chicken with mango & lime flavorings and the rice. The chicken was good, moist and succulent.. The rice was the yellow type with some good spices. I got it to go, so I can't comment on the service. I will be back to try the various chicken flavorings and sides.
I love Nando's and highly recommend it. The chicken is great of course, but don't forget to try the sides (grilled corn on the cob and Macho Peas) and try the desserts.
ReplyDeleteBobby Flays is excellent too. Try the grilled cheese sandwiches, they are extraordinary!!
I impressed by the quality of information on this website. There are a lot of good resources here. I am sure I will visit this place again soon.
