People are probably looking for places to eat in Howard County. We drove around yesterday, but our errands were farther south in Burtonsville (Starbucks: open) and Rockville (Joe's Noodle House: open and pretty delicious).
If you have a restaurant that's open, feel free to add a comment below. If your local joints are open, please let people know.
Coal Fire Pizza and the East Moon Asian Bistro on 108 are both open, as is Pasta Blitz. Eggspectations also appeared open.
ReplyDeleteBertuccis is open. Ruby Tuesdays and Boston Market were closed last night (Sunday). Mama Lucia's, On The Border, Fat Burger - all open. Trader Joes is open too.
ReplyDeleteRed Robin and Sanford Grill are open. Wegman's is open and busy :-) Royal Taj/Jason's/Cheeburger are open.
ReplyDeleteTino's/Asean Bistro/Wings is closed
Please note the time on comments if they say a place is closed. We're all hoping that places will open as power comes back.
ReplyDeleteOther places that appear open based on Twitter (so you might want to call and confirm): Clyde's in Columia, Joe's Place in Columbia, Frank's Seafood in Jessup, Roots in Clarksville, Jason's Wine & Spirits in Ellicott City.
Saturday night, Outback/Carrabba's/Uno's in Ellicott City were open.
ReplyDeleteAs of last night, Victoria's was open, but Scoop Ahh Dee Doo was closed (7:30 PM Sunday).
Also open -- Red Mango and Giant in the village center in Clarksville. The AC at Red Mango was particularly crisp. My friend said the McDonalds there was open Sunday, but only taking cash and running out of napkins and other supplies. If the center has power, there is also a Bagel Bin there.
ReplyDeleteWent to R&R Taqueria yesterday. It's open.
ReplyDeleteAs of last night, maple lawn shopping center with Kloby's, Facci, etc. was closed. We ended up at Maiwand Kabob down in Burtonsville.
ReplyDeleteFrisco Grille was open yesterday
ReplyDeleteFor once, we didn't lose power during a storm (except for a 45-minute loss on Saturday afternoon). That was a welcome change; I still wince when I think about the 5-day outage from that freak t-storm in 2010.
ReplyDeleteWe ventured up to Columbia Saturday night, and it looked like all of the commercial area around Rt 175 and Dobbin was up and running (we ate at Red Robin), as was the Mall (Apple Store only marginally less crowded than usual).
I have an appointment in Maple Lawn on Tuesday morning, and will make a loop of the midtown and Montpelier spots. Harris Teeter in Maple Lawn is open.
All of the restaurants in Historic Ellicott City have power. Come out and see us!
ReplyDeleteLee Biars
The Diamondback Tavern & Portalli's
Jenny's Market off Rt. 32 in Glenelg took a direct hit from trees on the house and market area. Blue tarps covering extensive roof damage. No one was hurt, thankfully, and they are back up and running a few yards up the road under temporary tents. Please come and support this terrific family and institution.
ReplyDeleteAs of noon today (Monday) all of Maple Lawn (including the BP--don't know why I expected that to be unaffected if the entire rest of the downtown wasn't, but anyways...) was closed. It was like a ghost town.

ReplyDeleteWe were at Jenny's Sunday morning buying things. They are so upbeat about no one being hurt. They deserve our support.
ReplyDeleteThe corn in last night's dinner on my blog came from there, and the onions.
Ten Oaks Tavern and Bistro Blanc are open, as are the gas stations and pizza carryout.
Living next to a needed gas station is a good thing. We got power Saturday night because the utility trucks, and people with generators, needed gas and diesel. High's and Royal Farms both had ice this afternoon.
@Sherringham -- Maple Lawn shops had power by about 7 pm tonight. Nothing looked open, but mabe tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteRoyal Taj, Jason's, Yogi Castle, Green Turtle etc on McGaw in Columbia were open. The Wegmans is open as well.
Kloby's had power tonight, but they said they were aiming to reopen in Tuesday.
We are open at Waterloo pizza and subs in Columbia/elk ridge and paras kabob. Never lost power.
ReplyDeleteHickory Ridge Village Center got power back today. So that's good for Luna Bella, Peking Chef, Domino's, Hickory Ridge Grill, Koto Sake(?), and Meadow's Custard & Yogurt.
ReplyDeleteWent to the Chinese restaurant in Dorsey Hall last night. It looked like everything on that village center was open.
ReplyDeleteMango Grove and Bangkok Garden 9 are open.
ReplyDeleteEl Azteca Rt 108 near the River Hill shopping center
ReplyDeleteMaple Lawn update! I had an appointment at the Maple Lawn medical office building, which just got power back around 7am Tuesday morning, and took a little time to cruise around...
ReplyDeleteRanazul is closed, and Venegas still looked closed.
Looney's, Sidamo, and McDonald's are open as of noon Tuesday. TuttiFrutti is open but it's cash-only right now (mmm, coffee frozen yogurt). All the midtown retail is open, including the Maple Lawn BP. Harris Teeter is restocked.
Over in the Montpelier Center area, everything is open and really busy. This includes Kloby's, Facci, Tandoor Grill, and Chick-Fil-A.
The Bob Evans right off 100 (exit 1a, IIRC) was open on Sunday (July 1) but providing dubious service.
ReplyDeleteLast night (July 2), driving around looking for a place to eat, Trattoria Pizzaria in Dorsey's Search was open but quite packed. (I suspect the other restaurants in the same strip (ie: Hunan Legend) were open, but did not actually verify this.)
We ended up driving out to the Restaurant Park down 108 in Elkridge, and all the restaurants there were open:
McDonalds, Olive Garden, Bob Evans, Applebees, TGI Fridays.
One last Maple Lawn update: We had dinner at Kloby's. They were out of pulled pork, brisket, and anything which is normally stored in the freezer. They'll likely be back to normal for the next service.
ReplyDeleteStopped by Tutti Frutti on the way home (they will be open July 4, yay), and saw that Ranazul and Venegas were both re-opened and busy.
I think at this point we need to track what's still closed rather than what's open!

ReplyDeleteNot related to power outages at all (since they were a month ago), but if you're going to head out to Rockville, Bob's Noodle is also worthy of your attention! :) My now-husband and I had our first date there. Beware that they're cash only though! (something my husband *didn't* realize before trying to pay by credit card... since he wasn't carrying cash :P)
