The owner of the upscale Milton Inn in Sparks will open a new restaurant in Highland -- the Highland Inn, reports Ryan Sharrow in the Baltimore Business Journal.
The Milton Inn sounds like a great restaurant in Richard Gorelick's review. Chef and owner Brian Boston will open the Highland Inn this summer apparently -- outside dining, wine shop too. If I'm right, this will be on Rte 216 just west of Rte 108.

If you are heading west on Route 108 and you make a right onto Highland Road (at Boarman's and Twist N Turn) and go towards post office, there is an older home currently having renovations done to it on the left hand side. I wonder if that is the site. I have heard fabulous things about Milton Inn and have always meant to try it....they do Groupons often and sell out quickly.
ReplyDeleteMy bets are that it won't succeed in Howard County. Almost every "fine dining" restaurant that opens in the county, fails. People mistakenly think that because HoCo is the wealthiest county, people will spend a lot in a restaurant. Doesn't work that way. Most people out here in Clarksville/Highland are "house poor" and look for good prices and value for their money.

Response to MarkM…. As to fine dining restaurants NOT succeeding in Howard County…what about the IronBridge? Certainly the wealthier people living in Clarksville and Columbia are just as 'house poor'...
ReplyDeleteIt appears that the Highland Inn has closed. Bistro Blanc is advertising on their Facebook page that they will honor all Highland Inn reservations for Father's Day now that Highland Inn has permanently closed. I ate their once...did not enjoy it.
