I just got back from the 'pre-opening' of Jason's! A co-worker gave me a card to get a free meal there today only. The employees were really nice and the food came fast. Basically you could get anything you wanted (within reason) for free today. I got a half mufaletta sandwich, broccoli cheese soup, and a drink. Really good first experience given how busy it was! The soup and sandwhich were definitely on par or better than Panera. I will definitely have to check out some other menu items.
@dzoey - I don't know about Ohio, but I ate there in Dallas. It's a big step up from Atlanta Bread Company, and will likely become a new go to sandwich/salad bar place for families.
Yes, this is the same as the one in Ohio. I have been to it in Upper Arlington, OH and it has always been great. Avoid the Children Peanut Butter and Jelly though! Terrible!
So, I went to Jason's today. What a mess...they may want to push back their opening for a little while longer.
Computers were down, people in Jason's Deli's uniforms (managers, owners, ??) outnumbered customers 2 to 1 and the staff had no idea what to do. One bright staff member wrote down my order by hand and promised to ring me up once the machines were back up.
Food was delivered by a kitchen staff member who mangled my name....badly. If you have trouble repeating names, then please issue numbers.
I then went back to the register to pay and the cashier couldn't read their own handwriting, so they were unable to ring up my order until a manager stopped to help.
But, the worst part was the food. I ordered a spinach veggie wrap that came with raw veggies, guacamole and salsa. But, it was heated and contained no spinach. Lava temperature guacamole is just wrong somehow...plus they forgot my pickle.
Won't be back anytime soon and don't recommend others try it either...
Like Anne, I gave Jason's a go on opening week. The staff was friendly, but there were approximately 20 staff members visible and only 4-5 customers.
I tried the "signature" muffaletta (ham and hard salami sub on a round roll) on the recommendation of the manager who greeted me. Despite the number of workers, it took 12-15 minutes to get my sandwich. The sandwich itself was one of the worst I've ever eaten. The olive mix was very thickly sliced olives mixed in with rest of the sandwich contents - I was expecting more of a tapenade, but that was my perception issue more than anything (though the texture was not right for this type of sandwich). There was very little meat in the sandwich, and it was overwhelmed by the size/taste of the bread. The bread was the single biggest problem - the muffaletta used an Italian bread that was heavily seeded with sesame seeds. When the bread was heated a second time for the hot sandwich, they not only over-browned the crust, but the sesame seeds didn't appreciate a second toasting and took on the near-rancid flavor that occurs when they are overcooked.
I may give them a second chance once they have settled down, but with options like Bon Fresco half a mile a way (and quick options like Jimmie Johns the same distance), it will be hard to go back.
My husband and I went there on Saturday night, we were very pleased with our meal. Can't wait to go back! We've been to a jason's in Florida and loved it!
