It almost seems like an April Fool's joke, but it isn't. I took this picture last year, but I never got a taste. (I didn't actually want one, but I'm clearing photos and still curious.) The sign said it was hot dogs, fries, American cheese, ketchup and mustard.
Pazani's pizza was once one of my favorites, but it hasn't wowed me on the last few trips. I need to update my 2009 "pizza in Howard County" post because I'm just not drawn as much. Any new suggestions for good pizza?
Roma's Pizza on Shaker Drive- Pizza like you remember from childhood with bubbly crust, great sauce! Folks that work there are pretty nice too!

the veggie dog pizza is excellent
I agree, Pazani has gone down hill big time. They used to have a great spicy pie with hot vinegar peppers and tabasco but they took it off the menu, and the last time we went there we were very disappointed. Pasta Blitz, next to eggspectations serves up some good pizza.

Cross the A.A. Co. border for Cantina Mama Lucia in Hanover. Standard toppings but amazing sauce and crust. Thin sliced Italian sausage is great. Also have a wheat crust option, which I haven't try but hear is good.
ReplyDeleteWe left Pazani last time with the same opinion -- that the pizza just wasn't as good as it used to be. We love Roma, it's delicious. Pasta Blitz is good too.

ReplyDeleteIf we are crossing into AA county then the "Grandma's Best" at Squisito near Arundel Mills is fantastic. If you are staying in HOCO I'd say Coalfire or go old school with Ledos.
ReplyDeleteI guess to each their own with pizza, I've eaten at Coal Fire a few times and been extremely disappointed, and I've never liked Ledo's pizza. My current favorite is Facci (near Hopkins APL) and I am really happy to hear they've added a take-out option! I've really enjoyed Pazani pizza in the past, but haven't been there in about 6 months, so I can't comment.
ReplyDeleteMama Lucia (the one in Hanover, not the one in Columbia) and Vennari's are my favorites. Both are the old-school, greasy and chewy. Stained Glass Pub in Elkridge makes a good Ledo's-style that is half price on Monday and Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteFor something slightly different, how about an oldy-but-goody - Tomato Palace (next to Clyde's on the waterfront)? Everything there is fresh and good including the "personal-size" pizzas.

ReplyDeleteIf we're crossing county borders, I'd head up to Eldersburg to Frank's Pizza. That's the closest thing to real NY Pizza I have found around here.

ReplyDeleteHands-down, my favorite pizza in Columbia is Vennari's. I disagree that its greasy and the chewy Italian bread crust is authentic. Like authentic old style pizza. Roma is second favorite.
