As she notes, Maiwand's naan makes the meal when it pops out of the oven and directly onto your plate. But she also liked the Chicken Shish Kebap sandwich at Turkshish Kebap, the casual joint on Little Patuxent Parkway that used to be Cazbar Kebap. (I haven't been back since the change.)
I've done carry-out from Turkshish a couple of times since the change. I didn't notice any significant differences in the food from when they were Cazbar Kebap.
ReplyDeleteI was actually in there one day and heard the owner say they just changed the name because apparently some people thought they were a bar. Not sure if he was being serious or not...
ReplyDeleteOn a completely unrelated note, I just saw a sign go up for Pudgies Pizza and Subs in Clarksville. They are not open yet and are located in the new strip shopping center that runs perpendicular to 108 and is next to the old Artie's locale. This is a small chain with locations in NY and PA. Anyone ever eaten there? http://www.pudgiespizza.com/
^^ Looking forward to more details on Pudgies. I'm hoping Clarksville will indeed be graced with a good Pizza Joint.
ReplyDeleteA former NY'er at the office has fond memories of Pudgies Pizza and Pudgies fried chicken breasts from the ??70's/80's. One can only hope that goodness makes its way here in MD
