It's so tough to think that the Columbia Wegmans won't open until 2012. But I'm glad that work progresses. I want to get past "off-site road improvements" and get to "cheese section installation."
Click here for a Twitter search that includes the Wegmans comment that they're hoping to open the Columbia store in 2012. It's copied below.
Wegmans
@HowChowBlog Some off site road improvements are scheduled 2 begin this summer. Currently we're hoping 2 open in 2012. Thx 4 your patience!
Years ago, I thought I couldn't wait until 2009!
ReplyDeleteExactly! I remember standing outside probably in the spring of 2007 and talking to a neighbor who worked for Wegmans. At that time, 2009 seemed like just *too long* to wait for the Columbia store to open.
ReplyDeleteI guess you will have to drive over here to Frederick. They've started above ground construction on the Wegmans here, but they are still saying 2011 last I heard.
ReplyDelete@Trout -- That's neighborly of you, but it's so unfair. We were already suffering lawsuits before the Frederick store was even announced. We were lapped!
ReplyDeleteI consider myself exceedingly fortunate to leave within reasonable distance to the one just outside Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteI drove by TWO Wegmans on business in NoVa today. Depressing.
ReplyDeleteWow! People that love Wegmans as much as I do!! My friends all think I'm obsessive about it, but it is honestly the BEST grocery store. I worked in one in NY during my college years. I worked in the Chinese restaurant (this was before they made it a buffet). They treat their employees very well and I believe it will be a great asset to our community!
ReplyDeleteI'd already resigned myself to 2012 when Customer Service emailed me back in March. (Well, I am hoping for early 2012!) In the meantime, I'll have to keep driving to Hunt Valley when I want my Wegmans fix. I never really appreciated it growing up in WNY! The grocery stores here really are sub-par in comparison. Even Harris Teeter or some of the "nicer" Giants just aren't the same at all. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the paving that was just done on Snowden counts as the "off site road improvements". I drove past the Wegman's lot today, and saw backhoes moving dirt. A glimmer of hope, perhaps, that it could be finished before twenty-twelve?
ReplyDeleteJust saw
ReplyDeleteWegmans Woodmore

that's closer than Hunt Valley
Lots of heavy equipment moving around, people, big piles of dirt, a dumpster, etc today at the Columbia Wegman's site. Any action there is good news, I guess.
