Sea Salt Lindt Chocolate At Target

Add another danger to the risks at Target.   On top of 20-roll paper towel deals and that impulse lawn furniture, you need to avoid the candy aisle as well.

Target may not be the natural habitat of food bloggers, but I have to be honest about where you can get an entire row of Lindt chocolate varieties.  I'm infatuated these days with sea salt.  Basically for reasons dangerously close to those ridiculed on this blog, but I will also argue that big crystal salt makes interesting flavors, and Lindt sells a terrific sea salt bar -- dark chocolate with irregular salt crystals scattered inside.

In fact, Target sells a full shelf of Lindt.  A trio of really dark chocolates, plus flavored ones like mint, chili, orange, and that sea salt.  We have looked for the sea salt elsewhere, but Target is the only place that I have found it so far.

Thanks to Harold of Scaggsville, whose blog DC To Scaggsville lead me to the hilarious site linked above. Harold does a little food writing -- like a post about Rita's.

  2. I actually just bought a dark chocolate w/ sea salt bar at MOM's Organic Market in East Columbia yesterday. I am trying to make it last longer than 2 days, but it isn't working so well.

  3. They also carry alot of varieties of Ritter Sport. (superior to Lindt, in my opinion)

  4. Safeway in Catonsville also carries the Lindt specialty bars. I've seen the sea salt one. Haven't had it but now will try it.

  6. oooooooooooh I've never heard of this - I want to try it! I've had the Trader Joe's sea salt brownies and they were awesome, and their sea salted caramels are also awesome....so really, I can't go wrong with sea salted chocolate!

  8. Anonymous 10:01am - Perhaps it is you who have jumped the shark since you are taking time from your clearly 'woo busy' day, and are here reading and commenting. Six other posters have clearly found this to add value. Instead of hacking on HowChow, who the rest of us find shares good insight, why don't you try to contribute to the community he is hosting here by bringing your own insight. That or else, please, on your way out, don't let the door hit you in the backside...

  9. @Laurel - I got that same Dark Chocolate Bar with Sea Salt at MOMs and it didn't even last a day. Must go get another.

I have been on the hunt for Chocolove Dark Chocolate with Salted Almond bars. A friend at work had one once and no one has ever been able to find them since.

  10. @Anonymous at 1001am.....I've held my tongue for a while, but couldn't resist a comment today.

As I found this sea salt chocolate at Target, (and think it's fantastic!), I thought it was finally a good time to post to the blog in response to your comments.

I personally think that "mini-posts" about these items are cool, but in addition to that:

    1. Mr. HowChow and I both have "day jobs".
    2. Mr. HowChow is a fabulous cook, and makes dinner almost every night at home. YUM - lucky me!
    3. The economy prevents us (and most people, I think) from dining out as frequently as we used to.

Thus, hopefully, many great dinners out in Howard County await us, but in the meantime, have fun with the little things in life!

  11. Eh, I'd really just ignore comments from the likes of anonymous@10:01. Obviously, the poster is bothering to read the blog and therefore adding a bounty of clicks to the pageviews because you know that individual is checking back periodically to see who has noticed. Heck, you get more than one pageview when they call up the blog and then click to comment!
Personally, I'm amused that anonymous@10:01 appears to be familiar with the meaning of the phrase "jump the shark."
You're doing an awesome job, HowChow. Keep it up.

  12. I will have to try these. The Baltimore Sun ran a recipe for ginger oatmeal cookies with sea salt, which were absolutely scrumptious, and since then I'm a sucker for salty and sweet. How can you go wrong with something that hits the 3 basic food groups--sugar, salt, and fat.

  13. Oops! The recipe for salty ginger cookies was not from the Sun, but from America's Test Kitchen, just in case anyone is interested.

  15. Wow - you must have had more than a few followers run to Target. Just came from the Dobbin Target and the Lindt sea salt bars were completely sold out. Picked up a dark chocolate orange bar instead. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

  16. As soon as I read this I went to Target to get one. Unfortunately, the Lindt bar has milk fat and I can't have dairy. Needless to say, I was disappointed and left craving dark chocolate with sea salt. On Friday, I found a dark chocolate (no milk fat) bar with sea salt at Whole Foods in Annapolis. It is made by Salazon Chocolate Co. I'm not sure how it compares to the Lindt but I think it's absolutely delicious!
