Where Is Caffe Bene Coming To Ellicott City?

An LA- and NYC-based coffee chain call Caffe Bene has told Michael Gioioso of Bmore that they're opening their first location in Ellicott City.

Does anyone know about any specific plans?  The Caffe Bene Web site looks like the Rte 40 coffee shops like Bon Appetit and Shilla that do European coffees and pastries by way of Korea.  Some savory pastries, but lots of sweets.  They're really nice places to shop or to hang out -- very family friendly and an easy way to meet friends or get out of the house.

Hat tip to Gina who spotted the Bmore article and posted on the HowChow Facebook page.

Keep in mind two new plazas: The 'Glory Days' plaza where soft stuff used to be, and the new deevelopment at the corner of Marriottsville Rd and 99 up from the Weis.

Just FYI, the Sonic that was planned for rte 40 is in the open bid construction phase. I saw the architectural drawings, so we should have a Sonic in Ellicott City sometime in 2014!

Went to the Caffe Bene in New York and really liked it. I hope it comes soon. They had bagels, some amazing looking dipped waffle things, and gelato. My daughter had the hot chocolate which I LOVED ( her, not so much). It was not your typical sugary hot chocolate (I ended up having to add a little sugar for her). I had the Red Velvet latte which could have been better. Had an amazing red velvet and milk taste, but I tasted no coffee what so ever. I would ask for an extra shot next time to see if that helped.
The atmosphere was wonderful. Heavy wood, industrial feel.

Gina -- Are you sure that they intend to have coffee in those lattes? I ask because I loved the sweet potato latte at Shilla, but then realized that it didn't taste like coffee. Someone else noted that in a comment. It got me thinking that these drinks might just be the flavor and steamed milk. I need to ask next time. (And maybe ask them to add a shot of espresso. ;-)

HowChow- you're probably right. Silly me for assuming my Latte would have coffe in it at a coffee shop. ;-). Starbucks has me brainwashed.

Just read in the Sun that Caffe Bene is supposed to open mid-August in the Enchanted Forest shopping center.

"Founded in 2008 in Seoul, Caffe Bene is now the second-largest franchised coffee chain in the world, with a menu that features Belgian waffles, Italian gelato and fresh-baked pastries in stores designed to look like European coffeehouses of the 17th and 18th centuries. Customers are served at their tables."
